TPPN would like to get out and about to meet our members.

 

We have had a busy month out and about at various events in the County. Here is a snippet of events we hosted and attended.

During November we held “Good Governance in your Organisation” training in the 5 Municipal Districts’s. Tipperary PPN would like to thank South Tipperary Development Company and North Tipperary Leader Partnership for supporting the role out of this training. 

St. Ailbe’s School Tipperary Town

“Lets Able Not Label”
TPPN were Delighted to be at the launch of “Let’s Able Not Label” today in St. Ailbe’s school Tipperary town. What an inspirational guest speaker Joanne O ‘Riordan to launch this Tipperary gold star initiative. Well done to all involved especially the transition year students from St Ailbe’s, St Anne’s and the Abbey CBS, The HSE and Tipperary County Council.

Holycross Plenary 
Thank you to all our members who attended the November Plenary. Special thanks to all our Reps, Guest speakers and presenters on the day. It was a very informative day and we hope that you gained some more insight into how the PPN operates and how you can have an impact on policy and decisions made in our County.

Social Enterprise Consultation
Mr. Michael Ring, T.D., Minister for Rural and Community Development, has announced a research partnership between his Department and the Social Finance Foundation with a view to producing research outputs which will support the development of an Irish social enterprise policy and implementation roadmap in early 2018.

As part of this research we are looking for social enterprises and those with an interest in the sector to contribute ideas and issues. Your views can be submitted through an online consultation which can be found at: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/IrelandSEP

This consultation is open until Friday December 15th at 5pm.

National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage – Open Call

The Minister for Culture, Heritage, and the Gaeltacht has announced an open call for submissions to the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ireland.
The  ‘National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage’ to be compiled to safeguard Ireland’s living culture in tandem with UNESCO Convention

  • Intangible cultural heritage is a living form of heritage that cannot be touched (unlike, for example, our built heritage).
  • It includes oral traditions; performing arts; social practices, rituals and events; knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe; and traditional craftsmanship.

Submissions are being accepted  until 31 January 2018 (to the email address nationalich@chg.gov.ie).

Child Welfare & Protection in Sport Training

 Tipperary Sports Partnership is facilitating a Child Welfare & Protection in Sport Basic Awareness training. The course is aimed at sports leaders, children’s officers, parents or anyone working with young people in sport. A central goal for all those involved in sport for young people register is to provide a safe, positive and nurturing environment where children can develop and enhance their physical and social skills. Promoting a child-centred environment should go hand in hand with identifying and eliminating practices that impact negatively on safe and enjoyable participation in sport for young people. The next series workshops will be delivered by Sport Ireland tutors on:    

Thursday 30th November 2017 LIT Thurles 6pm- 9pm

Implement best practice in protecting the welfare of participants

  • Create a child-centred environment within the sports club
  • List categories of abuse and some indicators associated with abuse
  • Make an appropriate response to a disclosure
  • Make a report to designated officer or appropriate Statutory Authorities

Prior registration with Tipperary Sports Partnership is necessary, please contact us for a registration form. A nominal fee of €15 is required to secure your place. Please book early as places are limited on the workshop. A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded on completion of the course.

Call for Applications

Tipperary Festivals and Events Grant Scheme 2018
This is a new competitive funding scheme.
Closing Date for applications- Wednesday 6th December 2017 at 12 noon

Festivals and events are crucial to the fabric of life in County Tipperary and they deliver a range of economic, social and cultural benefits.
Through this scheme, Tipperary County Council aims to promote and support local festivals throughout the County that are not solely commercially focused, to support and assist those festival/events that have a tourism/cultural/artistic/heritage/sporting or community focus and which contribute significantly to quality of life.
Festivals and events will only be eligible to receive funding for 2018 if they have made an application under this scheme.
Closing Date for applications- Wednesday 6th December 2017 at 12 noon

Lesbian Gay and Bisexual Health Awareness Training
Friday 8th December 2017 Conference room St Luke’s Hospital Clonmel – 9.30am – 1pm
The LGBTI Steering group in the CHO5 led by HSE’s Social Inclusion Department has developed a Lesbian Gay & Bisexual Health Awareness Training in partnership with Health Promotion & Improvement.  HSE Social Inclusion aims to provide opportunities for equal health outcomes for service users who are members of the LGBTI Community in CHO 5 and to support healthcare staff in their service delivery to this client group.
The aim of this half day workshop is to raise awareness around sexual diversity and explore some societal and individual attitudes and to consider some of the health issues for this community.
