We look forward to meet and connect with as many groups as possible over the coming months, so we are organising events across all 5 Municipal Districts. These gatherings will provide great opportunities to share ideas, network and to hear an update on how our mapping project is going. We will send an invite to each municipal district soon.

|
We would like to know what’s happening around the county in positive ageing week 2026, which takes place Friday 25th September to Friday 2nd October. Positive Ageing Week celebrates ageing and the contribution and older people make to society, whilst highlighting the positivity of older age.
Here at the PPN, we will be doing a special extra September edition of our newsletter with the theme of Age Friendly, Older Persons and Positive Ageing.
We would love if you or your group have any relevant news, an awareness campaign you may be doing highlighting local or an event that you are delivering during that time, we want to know about it and will let all our community groups know too.

National Positive Ageing Week Small Grant

Positive Ageing Week theme for 2026 is ‘Connecting Generations’ – Older and younger generations often live in separate worlds. A coffee morning bridges that gap with warmth and friendship. https://positiveageingweek.com/
Tipperary County Council and Tipperary Age Friendly offer a small grant scheme to support Older Adult Community Groups in County Tipperary to support social interactions and connectivity and the theme for the national positive ageing week.
The grant will support Older adult community groups to host an event 25th September to 2nd October 2026. A maximum grant of €250 is available
The Grant Scheme intention is to support older adult groups in reconnecting and reengaging and celebrating the contribution of older people to County Tipperary
Last date for receipt of applications 12 noon Tuesday 8th September 2026
Applications will only be accepted from community groups whose focus is on engaging older adults and facilitating and older adult group for e.g. Senior Citizens Group, Active Retirement, Men’s Sheds etc.
The event must be cultural in nature, promoting positive ageing, whether music, arts, drama, in nature, the group can define to suit their groups demands.

Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme
|

|
The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) provides funding for the development of new outdoor recreational infrastructure. It also provides support for the necessary repair, maintenance, enhancement or promotion of existing outdoor recreational infrastructure in rural areas across Ireland.
The scheme supports outdoor recreation activities such as walking, trekking, cycling, kayaking and hiking. It helps to make use of the resources of the countryside that contribute to healthy active lifestyles. It supports the economic and tourism potential of the area for both local communities and tourist visitors alike.

Targeted Call for Rural Youth Projects under the LEADER Programme 2023-2027 launched today by South Tipperary Development Company (STDC). It outlines the objectives of the call, eligibility criteria, and details on how to apply.
This funding opportunity is designed to support initiatives that empower young people, enhance youth engagement, and contribute to the social, economic and community development of rural areas across South Tipperary.
Eligible projects will address one or more of the following:
- Supporting youth participation in community development, leadership, and decision-making
- Developing skills, training, mentoring, and employment pathways for rural young people
- Enhancing youth wellbeing, diversity, inclusion and access to services
- Improving recreational, cultural, creative, educational, and social opportunities for young people
- Developing innovative projects that help retain and attract young people to live, work, and engage in rural communities
- Supporting youth entrepreneurship, digital skills, and enterprise development

Grant Support for Community Climate Action Events
|

Community Groups across County Tipperary are invited to organise events for National Climate Action Week 2026
An Taisce’s National Climate Action Week will take place from 12th – 18th October 2026. To support this, Tipperary County Council Climate Action Office, is providing funding to community groups to help them to organise and deliver their own community climate action event.
Tipperary County Council first introduced this grant programme in 2025, providing funding to 28 community groups. Building on this success, the programme is being rolled out again in 2026 to support community involvement in National Climate Action Week https://climateactionweek.ie
Each participating group will organise and promote its own event and will determine the dates, times and venues.
Two grant streams are available:
- Local Events: Grants of up to €300 are available for small local climate action events.
- Countywide Events: Grants of up to €1,000 are available for larger events taking place across more than one Municipal District.

The Erkina Solar Project Community Benefit Fund

Soleire Renewables are delighted to announce that the Erkina Solar Project Community Benefit Fund is now open for applications for the first round of funding for communities adjacent to the Erkina Solar Project in the Knock/Roscrea area.
In Year 1 the Fund will distribute €272,000 to community and voluntary groups, non-profit groups, clubs and societies, or organisations with a charitable status towards community-based projects and initiatives that support the delivery of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Community and voluntary groups, non-profit groups, clubs and societies, or organisations with a charitable status who are proposing projects located within the 4.5km Area of Benefit (click here for map) or which will provide community benefit and services to the communities within that Area of Benefit are eligible to apply to the fund.
Closing Date for applications is 5pm on Tuesday 1st September 2026.

Uisce Éireann drop-in Information Clinics

Uisce Éireann is continuing to host drop-in information clinics for the proposed Water Supply Project Eastern and Midlands Region. These informal information clinics provide an opportunity to meet Uisce Éireann’s Community Liaison Officer, learn more about the Water Supply Project, including the opportunities presented by this major project, the potential day-to-day impact of construction, and how stakeholders can stay informed and involved as the project progresses through the statutory consents process.

The Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation has launched a public consultation on a new Digital Wallet, designed to let you securely store important documents like your birth cert, driving licence, and EHIC on your phone.
As part of the Digital Public Service Plan 2030, the DPER is leading on the digitalisation of the majority of public services including, for example, applying for social housing, obtaining a marriage certificate or registering for key welfare supports, such as the working family payment.
The Government Digital Wallet is a key part of this plan and is being developed to provide the public with a quick and easy way to store important documents on their phone.

Social Justice Ireland is an independent think tank and justice advocacy organisation that advances the lives of people and communities through providing independent social analysis and effective policy development to create a sustainable future for every member of society and for society as a whole.
Social Justice Ireland are conducting a short survey to better understand how Community Groups access basic financial services, and where gaps may exist. As Community Groups need a dedicated bank account in order to receive grants and funding, by sharing your perspective, you’ll contribute to research that aims to improve access to basic financial products for community groups. This free, in-person session is designed for county-level agencies and service providers who work with refugees and international protection applicants (IPAs). The workshop will highlight the often overlooked needs and challenges of LGBT+ refugees and IPAs and offer practical guidance on how to create more inclusive and supportive environments.
While many agencies work hard to support refugee populations, the specific experiences and challenges faced by LGBT+ refugees and IPAs frequently remain invisible. This invisibility can lead to gaps in care, unintentional exclusion, and missed opportunities for meaningful support.

- The unique barriers and risks LGBT+ refugees and international protection applicants face during displacement and resettlement from risks in their countries of origin to isolation, discrimination and lack of safety in accommodation systems here in Ireland.

Making Every Contact Count (MECC) Training, a practical programme that helps healthcare and community workers confidently support positive behaviour change and promote healthier lifestyles.
MECC equips staff with valuable communication skills to have supportive, person-centred conversations about health and wellbeing. While the training focuses on topics such as smoking, healthy eating, physical activity.
The programme has two parts: MECC eLearning Modules (Online) and Enhancing Your Brief Intervention Skills Workshop (In-person Workshop)
Both can be accessed through www.hseland.ie. If you do not already have a HSELand account, you will need to create one before getting started. Once you have completed the eLearning modules, you can register for the Enhancing Your Brief Intervention Skills In-Person Workshop.

This will be facilitated by Tina O Dwyer of The Tourism Space, who is a skilled and trained advocate of sustainable and regenerative tourism. This is a great chance to learn useful skills and practical techniques to improve your tourism business and help develop Tipperary as a sustainable destination.

AI Awareness Training (eLearning)

This AI Awareness training course is designed for volunteers, staff, and managers who use or intend to use AI-powered systems, tools or applications in their work. It is also for board directors and senior managers who are tasked with developing and implementing AI related policies in their organisations, and in particular Acceptable AI Usage Policies.
Since February 2nd, 2025, employers must ensure that employees using AI systems have adequate AI literacy. Organisations must also ensure that the use of AI systems in the workplace is transparent. Hence, this eLearning resource is structured as a Level 1 awareness raising course comprising eight component parts.
This course aims to:
- help you develop a solid understanding of what Artificial Intelligence (AI) is and its future potential;
- look at ways you might typically deploy or use AI systems, tools and applications in your work;
- provide you with an overview of the European Union AI Act 2024;
- outline how an Acceptable AI Usage Policy might be developed and implemented to raise AI awareness among staff members.

The Bereavement support group provides a safe space for family members who have experienced the death of a loved one due to substance use or related issues. A place to share their experience of loss and grief in a non-judgemental space amongst peers and to help them find support for themselves and their families at this difficult time.
It can help you feel that you are not alone.
The group is facilitated by two trained psychotherapists and will provide respite opportunities.
This is a free service specific to the South East Regional Family Support Network.

Working together to Make Every Move Count Webinar

The ‘Working together to Make Every Move Count’ webinar series aims to support healthcare professionals to raise the topic of physical activity and actively support patients to become more active.
