Public consultation on the successor to the “Roadmap for Social Inclusion 2020-2025”
|
The Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary T.D., has launched a public consultation to develop a replacement for the Roadmap for Social Inclusion 2020-2025.
The Roadmap for Social Inclusion 2020-2025 was published in 2020. It followed the National Action Plan for Social Inclusion which ended in 2017. This series of plans has been ongoing since 1997.
The Roadmap for Social Inclusion aims to reduce the number of people in poverty in Ireland and increase social inclusion for the most disadvantaged. The ambition is to “Reduce consistent poverty to 2% or less and to make Ireland one of the most socially inclusive countries in the EU”.
As we begin to develop the new social inclusion strategy we want to hear your views on the progress made in improving social inclusion and reducing poverty. Please share your experience, or the experience of the people you represent, of poverty and social exclusion, and suggest ways this situation could be improved in the future.
More information can be found at gov.ie – Public consultation on the successor to the “Roadmap for Social Inclusion 2020-2025”. This consultation will remain open for submissions until Monday 30th June 2025.

PCSA Policing Priorities Online Consultation
|
The Policing and Community Safety Authority (PCSA) is the new oversight body for An Garda Síochána. The PCSA sets the Policing Priorities and these establish what we want the Gardaí to give the most attention and resources to, in order to deliver an effective policing service for you and to make people feel safe in their communities.
As you will be aware from our invitation to attend an in-person consultation, the PCSA is currently reaching out to people and communities across Ireland to hear their views on what the Policing Priorities should be for An Garda Síochána for 2026-2028. As part of this consultation, we have launched an online consultation tool that allows you to spend ‘points’ on the areas of policing that you consider a priority. It will take about 10 minutes to complete, and there is a short, optional survey at the end.
We want you to have your say by completing the Public Consultation and letting us know what areas of policing and community safety are most important to you.
Click here to start the consultation
We want to reach as diverse an audience as possible with this Public Consultation, and we would very much appreciate your help. We hope that you will share the consultation with your networks, through your social media, newsletter or other channels. Anyone over the age of 16 years old can have their say. The online consultation will be open until Sunday 8th June 2025.
If you have any queries, please contact consultation@pcsaireland.ie

Sun Protection Awareness in Ireland.
|
The HSE’s National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) commissioned Amárach Research to undertake a survey on parents’/guardians’ attitudes, behaviours, knowledge and awareness of sun protection in Ireland.
The findings of this survey provide valuable insight into parental attitudes and behaviours regarding sun protection for themselves and for their primary school-aged children.
Findings from this research report will be used to inform the development of resources and programmes to engage parents of young children in skin cancer prevention behaviours. It will inform how best to reach this population to increase the awareness of sun protection, the messages and the medium of messages. This research will also serve as a useful baseline to which future research can be compared and inform the implementation of the National Skin Cancer Prevention Plan.
I hope you find this research report informative. To read the report click here ‘2024 Survey on Parents’/Guardians’ Attitudes, Behaviours, Knowledge and Awareness of Sun Protection in Ireland’.

Men’s Health Week 9th-15th June 2025
|
International Men’s Health Week (MHW) always begins on the Monday before Father’s Day and ends on Father’s Day itself. During 2025, it will run from Monday 9th until Sunday 15th June.
During Men’s Health Week 2025, individuals and organisations on the island of Ireland are encouraged to stand ‘Shoulder-to-Shoulder’ and ‘Connect for Health but, more importantly, everyone is also asked to set themselves simple, realistic and practical tasks to improve the health of men and boys on the island of Ireland.
But why is there a need to hold a Men’s Health Week?
Males constitute almost 50% of the population on the island of Ireland and, therefore, deserve to have a gender lens focused upon their specific health needs. Research clearly shows that these men experience a disproportionate burden of ill-health and die too young. Indeed, while many of these conditions are preventable, their prevalence amongst men may, in fact, rise in the future.
Please visit https://mhfi.org/mhw/mhw-2025.html for MHW toolbox 2025 to help you get involved in Men’s Health Week 2025
The celebration of Men’s Health Week on the island of Ireland during 2025 is funded by the Health Service Executive Health and Wellbeing and the Public Health Agency.
