This newsletter is part of the Tipperary Community Response and compliments the National In This Together campaign.Its prepared by staff from Tipperary County Council and the HSE with content by partners in the Community Response for Tipperary and showcases community projects that have taken place to date in County Tipperary.The newsletter is produced on a fortnightly basis and will issue online through the various partners.It is part of an overall campaign which looks at the national themes of Looking after our Mental Health, Coping at Home, Let’s Play Ireland, Staying Active, Healthy Eating, Cocooning, Helping in our Community and Local Resources. At Tipperary Arts Office, our vision is to support an environment where the arts flourish to the benefit of artists, local communities and visitors to the county. The Tipperary Arts Office strives to broaden and deepen access to the arts and to develop strategies for sustainable engagement through strategic arts programming. Services provided by The Arts Office include: Advice and Information, Grants and schemes to support arts development, Strategic Programming and Policy Development.
At Tipperary County Council Library Service we pride ourselves on providing a countywide, community based library service available to all. We are the go-to place locally, with national reach. We offer a wide range of resources and services for work, learning, leisure and creativity, online and in-library.
The Volunteer Centre’s primary objective is to promote volunteerism in Tipperary by supporting both volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations and by operating a quality placement and training service for organisations while providing information on a range of volunteer opportunities to all our registered volunteers. In doing so they wish to provide everybody with access to volunteering opportunities that are fulfilling, engaging and which contribute to the betterment of the community with volunteers being respected for the individual contributions they make.
During Covid 19 LGBT+ Health South Tipperary has continued to offer support to the LGBT+ community through one to one chat via Phone, email and text support as well as WhatsApp group chat and their Facebook page. They also offer our Support groups via Zoom which are now Bi weekly ‘coffee and chat’. This started via zoom on Saturday 23rd May and will be Bi weekly from 11.30am to 12.30pm
ALONE offer a range of services to people over 60 for those who have limited social contact feeling particularly isolated and lonely. The services aim to alleviate the negative impacts loneliness has on mental and physical health. Volunteers are trained and supported by professional staff. If the older person’s needs change, staff also work with them to coordinate the additional supports they need to age at home.
