A number of boards and committees across the county are looking for PPN representatives.

Connecting for Life Implementation Steering Group
South Tipperary Area – 1 Rep
Connecting for Life South Tipperary is the Action Plan to Prevent Suicide. This plan is based on Connecting for Life, Ireland’s National Strategy to Reduce Suicide.

Comhairle na nÓg Steering Group
1 PPN Rep
Comhairle na nÓg are child and youth councils in the 31 local authorities of the country, which give children and young people the opportunity to be involved in the development of local services and policies.
Housing SPC
2 Community & Voluntary Pillar Rep
Some of the topics that may be covered by the Housing SPC, but it will depend on the annual work programme that is normally agreed by the SPC at the start of their term, include accommodation programme for the Traveller community, allocations / accessibility / priority, housing construction / refurbishment programme, homeless strategy, housing strategy – rebuilding Ireland, repair and leasing scheme, social housing leasing initiative/rental accommodation programme (RAS), housing assistance payment (HAP), housing adaptation grant scheme, energy efficiency works and voluntary housing.

Local Community Development Committee (LCDC)
The Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) are currently looking for one Environment Representative for their committee. Are you interested?
This local decision-making structure draws on the expertise and experience of public and private actors within the county Tipperary local authority area to provide effective and efficient services to citizens and communities, and particularly those most in need of those services.
Do you have an interest in, knowledge of and experience of Environmental or Social Inclusion issues?
If so, this opportunity means that you should represent the PPN, as a whole organisation, not your community group, and all decisions taken and views represented will be for the betterment of all the sectors of the Community and Voluntary, Social Inclusion and Environmental within county Tipperary and guided by our PPN Community Wellbeing Vision.
You should be able to attend 11 monthly meetings of the LCDC, as well as having an active role in other events or subgroups, with time to prepare for your meetings, through reading relevant documents etc.
Depending on your role, it would take up an estimated 8-10 hours per month, in a voluntary capacity, though your travel expenses would be met by Tipperary County council.
The PPN will support you in your role with an induction process and a member of the LCDC team will also meet with you.

Infrastructure SPC

Some of the topics that may be covered by the Infrastructure (to include Roads, Transport and Water Services) SPC, but it will depend on the annual work programme that is normally agreed by the SPC at the start of their term include Cycling policy, Environmental Traffic Planning, Pedestrian Facilities, Parking, Public Transport issues, Roads, Road Safety issues and Traffic Management and Hedge Cutting

Planning & Emergency Service SPC
1 Social Inclusion Pillar Rep
Some of the topics that may be covered by the Planning and Emergency Services SPC but it will depend on the annual work programme that is normally agreed by the SPC at the start of their term. National Planning Framework, Regional and Spatial Economic Strategies (RESS), Building Control and taking in Charge of Estates, Planning and Development including: Urban Design and Renewal, Conservation of Built Environment, Development Plans and Urban/Rural Regeneration and Development and Fire Service.

Social Inclusion Community and Rural Development SPC
This is a new Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) for the new 5 year SPC Scheme. This means that these are brand new PPN Rep seats. Although there are Social Inclusion PPN Reps on all SPCs, there is a need for focused Social Inclusion policy and expertise to develop policy to reduce social inequalities. Some of the topics that may be covered by the Social Inclusion, Community & Rural Development SPC include: integration, social inclusion, Town/ Village community and rural development, marginalised groups and equality policies.

Tipperary Transport Coordinator Unit act as a focal point for local public transport in County Tipperary. Improve quality of life and accessibility to transport for all citizens, in particular for people with reduced mobility and those who may experience isolation due to lack of transport services. Improve economic competitiveness through maximising the efficiency of all transport systems within Tipperary and delivering value for money to the taxpayer. Ensure the highest level of standards in safety is applied across all services provided. Seek and identify areas of unmet transport needs through various inputs and liaise with Tipperary County Council, relevant agencies and other appropriate bodies to address such needs. Maintain and improve existing alliances and establish closer working relationships, principally, with Bus Eireann and HSE.

Tipperary Volunteer Centre is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. Primarily funded by the Government of Ireland through the Department of Rural and Community Development the organisation is tasked with strengthening volunteering across county Tipperary.
