Although, summer can create great holiday or family event memories, the ups and downs of life still go on. It is the same here at your PPN.
We have many valuable and loyal volunteers that keep the PPN going on so many different levels, as secretariat members or on committees as PPN reps and in the office.
So, when one passes away, it impacts on our work, of course, but mostly, on the hearts of the staff and the PPN voluntary team.
One such very recent loss to us is Mary Ryan, of Currabaha Cross, Borrisoleigh.
Until a year ago, Mary was the Nenagh municipal district (MD) Community & Voluntary rep on the secretariat, representing the Mother Mountain Craft Group. Tipperary PPN was lucky, in that Mary was a consistent attender of the monthly secretariat meetings, doing two full terms on the PPN management board, (one term is for 4 years and a secretariat member can do one consecutive term too) and was very generous in giving time to some of the many sub-groups. Her support in the numerous PPN events was obvious, she was a regular on the event planning subgroup, also giving a lot of her vibrant energy on the day of the event too.
Mary was also, additionally, a long-term core member of the finance sub-group, being a stickler for procedures and having a great head for figures and protocol. Her favourite, I think, was the policy sub-group as there would be interesting discussions and musings on developing and review all the array of PPN policies so that we continue to have good, if not excellent, governance. In fact, she chose to remain on both of these subgroups, when her secretariat terms had expired. We were very grateful to keep her expertise in those important operation areas of the PPN.
Remembering Mary with one of the current secretariat members, Michael Kealy, from the Carrick-on-Suir MD and the social inclusion pillar, he said, “She will always be Minute Mary to me”.
Yes, Mary had many skills, and one was the unpopular job, in any meeting, of minute-taking!
We miss her hugely and we loved her for understanding what Tipperary PPN can achieve for the county voluntary community groups. Mary really saw the PPN.
Tipperary PPN sends sincere condolences to her husband, Tim, children, grandchildren and all extended family.
May Mary Rest in Peace.
Another very respected member of the secretariat, Charles Stanley-Smith, Nenagh MD Social Inclusion rep, has very recently experienced the bereavement of his wife, Judge Elizabeth McGrath. We extend to him, also, sincere condolences and we are thinking of him at this sad time.

Climate Engagement Survey of Ireland – Climate Actions Work Initiative
|
The Department would appreciate your cooperation in completing the climate engagement survey of Ireland. The survey, conducted by Ipsos B&A, captures specific information about your organisation and then asks you to submit examples of key climate-related initiatives that your organisation is engaged in. The survey length will vary depending on the number of initiatives you choose to share (up to five). We would recommend selecting a time slot when you are free and able to dedicate the necessary time as this survey will need to be completed in one session.
In addition to internal analysis by the Department, the survey results will be published as an interactive map, showcasing the breadth and diversity of climate action across Ireland.
The survey can be found here: https://research3.ipsosinteractive.com/mrIWeb/mrIWeb.dll?I.Project=IE2401015101WE
This is an important opportunity to communicate your organisation’s work in climate-related activities alongside others across the country and on behalf of the DECC we appreciate you taking the time to fill out this survey.
If you have queries, please get in touch with Ipsos B&A at IE-PA-ClimateMapping@ipsos-online.com

World Suicide Prevention Day(WSPD) Webinar Planning Survey
|
World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) takes place the 10th of September 2024. The day creates awareness of this important public health issue and spreads the message that suicide is preventable. The theme for WSPD this year is “Changing the Narrative on Suicide” with a call to action to “Start the Conversation”.
This year, to mark WSPD, the HSE Regional Suicide Resource Office and partners will host a series of webinars, to discuss and highlight the areas of suicide prevention, intervention and postvention in keeping with the WSPD theme. We have devised a short survey to help inform these webinars and to gain input from you, our Connecting for Life partners and the wider community. We would like to know what interests you and what you think the areas of focus should be.
To share your thoughts and ideas on what you would like to hear about from these webinars please click the following link WSPD Webinar Survey and respond before 5pm on Tuesday the 23rd of July 2024. It will take less than 5 minutes to complete. Please share the link with your networks and groups.
The survey is brief and anonymous but if you would like to communicate with us further regarding this or other events please respond to this email.
