Minister Heather Humphreys announces new Social Enterprise Module for young people
Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, in partnership with the youth organisation Foróige, has today (Wednesday 10 March) announced a Social Enterprise Module which will be availed of by thousands of young people across the country. The module, introduced as part of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Programme, will be primarily taught in DEIS schools. The Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD) has provided €30,000 to support the roll-out of the initiative. It’s envisaged that approximately 120 teachers will be involved in its delivery.

The CLAR Scheme 2021
The CLAR Scheme for 2021 has been announced and there is an increase in funding available under this years scheme. Note the location of the works must be in a CLAR area (list of CLAR areas and the map are available at https://www.tipperarycoco.ie/clar-scheme-2021 There are a number of measures being funded in the 2021 scheme summarised below and further details are also available at https://www.tipperarycoco.ie/clar-scheme-2021 Measure 2 Outdoor Community Recreation Facilities (Grant funding €5,000-€50,000 with a 10% matched funding requirement, minimum 5% cash, max 4 applications across the County) Outdoor Cinema Screen, Bandstand/Amphitheatre, Outdoor Drinking Water Fountain, Covered Seating & Picnic Benches, Associated Landscaping & Path Widening, Playgrounds/ MUGAs (new or upgrades),Skateboard Parks, Exercise Class Space, Public Toilets & Bins, Car & Bike Parking. Measure 3a Community gardens and Allotments (Grant funding €5,000-€50,000 with a 10% matched funding requirement, minimum 5% cash, max 3 applications across the County) groundworks, footpaths, raised beds, native pollinator plants, sensory planting and equipment, polytunnels, sheds, rainwater harvesting tanks, fencing, gates, tools as appropriate, benches, picnic tables, shelters and outdoor pizza ovens/BBQ areas. Ministers Humphreys and McConalogue announce €70 million LEADER funding for rural communities and enterprises Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, and Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue TD, have today (12th March 2021) announced the allocation of €70 million through the LEADER programme for the period 2021-2022. The Government has today begun the process of submitting an amendment to the European Commission to extend the 2014-2020 Rural Development Programme, under which LEADER is funded, out to the end of 2022. As part of that process, the LEADER Programme will be allocated a total of €70 million for 2021-2022, adding an extra €50 million to the initial funding of €20 million announced by Minister Humphreys in December 2020. Minister Humphreys and Minister McConalogue today said that the funding will support rural communities and private enterprises in the recovery of Covid-19. In the coming weeks, the Department of Rural and Community Development will provide the breakdown of the increased allocation of €70 million to each of 29 Local Action Groups who deliver the LEADER Programme. HSE Applications National Lottery Funding Grants This funding is distributed by the HSE each year to community based groups and voluntary organisations under the Respite Care Grant Scheme and the National Lottery Grant Scheme. Groups and organisations involved in the provision of Health and Personal Social Services can apply for once off funding of between €500 and €10,000 for suitable projects. Note that public bodies including the HSE are not eligible to apply for this funding. The HSE has advertised in newspapers for applications and you may wish to share this notification among your professional or local networks. Closing Date for Applications is 12 noon on Friday 16th April 2021. You should send your application form, declaration form and your organisation’s banking details to your local Community Healthcare Organisation (CHO). START Suicide Prevention Online Skills Training Connecting for Life and Your Mental Health are running a Suicide Prevention Online Skills Training. Professional Certificate in Children and Loss (Level 9). We are now accepting applications for the 2021/2022 Professional Certificate in Children and Loss (Level 9). Make Way Day Friday 24th September 2021 Make Way Day is a National Public Awareness Campaign to highlight the problems people with disabilities face in getting around their local communities. Registration for Bealtaine Festival Bealtaine is Ireland’s only festival that celebrates creativity as we age. FoodCloud is an organisation that redistributes surplus food to charities and community groups across Ireland, we have a very diverse network including creches, homeless projects, day facilities, FRCs LDCs etc. We do it in 2 ways, using an App to connect local shops with local charities for free, and we have our warehouse which delivers large volumes through a membership approach. In your county in the coming months we will be looking for organisations to sign up for free donations from different retailers but we often find it difficult to find new organizations who may want to get involved. Farming for nature Newsletter This bimonthly publication contains useful information on upcoming news and events, offers helpful nature-friendly tips for your farm, and highlights some really good resources, including some words of wisdom from our farmers! The Farming for Nature initiative was established to acknowledge and support those farmers who farm, or wish to farm, in a way that will improve the natural health of our countryside. There are ways in which we can all get involved, so read on and see what you can do.
Proposed Carrick-on-Suir Regeneration Plan During 2021 it was proposed to prepare a Tourism and Heritage based Regeneration Plan for Carrick-on-Suir. The overall vision is to prepare plans for the enhancement of the town as a visitor destination based on its potential as a key attraction in Ireland’s Ancient East on the Suir Blueway Tipperary County Council has appointed Malachy Walsh and Partners (Engineers) and Nicholas de Jong Associates (Urban Design) to prepare the Regeneration Plan, which is aimed primarily at delivering the following two elements:
